Flexible Risers and Umbilicals
With increasing focus on diver safety, self-energising, First Subsea's Diverless Bend Stiffener Connectors are enabling operators to perform faster installations of flexible risers and umbilicals to existing I / J tubes and bellmouths, and 'crowded' platforms where space is limited.
Flexible risers and umbilicals either connected to a subsea riser base, platform, buoy or the turret exit of a floating production vessel often use bend stiffeners to prevent overbending and fatigue of the riser. Attaching the bend stiffener to the platform or vessel's I/J tube can be a hazardous process, however. It commonly requires divers to position and bolt the connector to the platform which is then installed using tensioning tools. It is also a time-consuming operation and dependent upon good weather to complete the operation.
In response to these challenges when installing bend stiffener connectors, First Subsea, in collaboration with Trelleborg Offshore, has developed a range of diverless and now ROV-less bend stiffener connectors.
