Disconnectable Turret Buoy Retrieval and Abandonment

Where a disconnectable turret buoy is used as a mooring and production system for a FPSO, First Subsea's Buoy Pick Up tool allows the turret to be quickly disconnected, with subsequent re-connection of the moorings and production risers once the ship is back on location.

The buoy Pick Up tool avoids the need for floating ropes, padeyes and shackles which are often impractical.
Instrad the turret buoy is retrieved into the ship using a male Ballgrab subsea connector mounted on a retrieval wire, winched into the moonpool of the vessels, which connects to a female receptacle at the top of the buoy.

The First Subsea Buoy Pick up tool:

  • Eliminates the need to search for a floating rope
  • Provides easy retrieval of the buoy without the need for ROVs
  • Eliminates the need for ROV or diver intervention
  • Provides a simple, remotely operated buoy abandonment system.
