Facilities

All of First Subsea's Ballgrab® connectors are designed, assembled, tested and supplied from its Lancaster headquarters in the UK. Our multi-disciplinary teams consisting of sales, projects and production engineers ensure a full integrated approach from sales enquiry to on-time product delivery.

First Subsea's headquarters comprises of design offices which are equipped with the latest Autodesk design suite, Mathcad and ANSYS for engineering and integrated FEA and fatigue analysis. The ground floor workshop area includes 4 vertical and horizontal test rigs with capabilities of up to 2,600T to allow on-site testing of all First Subsea's connectors. The workshop is fitted with full length and width cranes, a state of the art co-ordinate measurement machine (CMM) and 3T and 5T forklift trucks.

In addition to the main workshop, there is a secondary workshop which contains a Non Destructive Testing (NDT) booth, and provides storage facilities for all the Ballgrab® connectors and the fleet of Pipeline Recovery Tools.

First Subsea also has a purpose built Ballgrab® bend stiffener connector test rig specifically designed to simulate the connector's installation angles and pull-in loads ahead of deployment offshore. See our BSC testing video here
